Before the School Bell Rings

KidsAbility, Centre for Child Development, in partnership with KidsAbility School and K-W Habilitation Services will be conducting three parent information sessions entitled “Before the School Bell Rings”.  These sessions are for parents of children residing in Waterloo Region who will be entering school for the first time in September 2010, or leaving KidsAbility School.

You may register for any or all of the sessions for a fee of $10.00 per session.  Please call Cindy at KidsAbility at 519-886-8886, Ext. 216 to register.  Cheques should be made payable to KidsAbility. Deadlines for registration for each session is shown below.

There is a flat rate of $10.00 per family per session.

• Session 1 - The School System (Session 1 has been cancelled due to lack of participants)
  Thursday, February 4, 2010 - Waterloo

Registration and Coffee - 6:30 to 7:00 p.m.

Program - 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Registration Deadline: January 22, 2010

 

Presenters: Representatives from the two Waterloo District School Boards, KidsAbility - Centre for Child Development, Community Care Access Centre (School Health Support Services) and KidsAbility School

Program: Description of programs and services including therapy services, offered by  the two local school boards and CCAC. Information about preparing for school entry.

• Session 2 – Parents and School Working Together
  Saturday, March 27, 2010 - Waterloo
  
  Registration  and Coffee - 12:30 to 1:00 p.m.
  Program  - 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Presenters: Michelle Toohey, Resource Consultant, and a panel of parents who will share their own recent school entry experiences and will take questions from the audience.
Program: How to develop and maintain positive working relationships with your child’s teacher and principal.

• Session 3 – Writing Effective Needs Statements
