Bursary Funds:

Carol Shantz Bursary

This Fund was established upon the retirement of Carol Shantz as the KidsAbility School Principal in 2001. Carol wanted to leave a legacy so that graduates of KidsAbilty could receive financial assistance in order to pursue post-secondary education. The Bursary is awarded to young adults who have been clients of KidsAbility and who wish to attend university, college or other training and educational institutions. The goal of the Bursary Fund is $25,000 which would provide $1,000 annually to a graduate of KidsAbility who needs financial support to pursue their academic dreams.

Roy Brown - Rotary Club of Kitchener Grand River Bursary Fund

This Fund of $10,000 was established upon the retirement of Roy Brown as Administrator of the Rotary Children's Centre (now KidsAbility) in 1980. The purpose of the Fund was to support the continuing education and professional development of KidsAbility staff. Beginning in 1998 the Rotary Club of Kitchener Grand River began investing in this Fund and their efforts have grown the Fund to $90,000. Their purpose was to help KidsAbility staff to continually update their skills and knowledge base in order to meet the changing needs of their clients. As client needs become more complex, and as new medical needs emerge, the staff will be supported to remain on the cutting edge of knowledge to serve those clients.
